in the home. that's where it started

Baking has always been my passion. My friends and neighbors constantly keep my oven going. After a short time of baking for fun, I began to sell my delicious creations to  local farmer's markets. After only one summer working for the markets, I decided to grow my business and branched out to retail locations.

When I was younger and in grade school I can remember getting off that bus and heading straight for a snack. I would open the front door and the aroma from Nanny's kitchen was an instant comfort. My Nanny would always have something freshly made waiting just for me. That is where my love for baking started. I'll never forget her "signature" dish, a vanilla wafer, a toasted marshmallow, and she finished it off with a dolop of jelly. It might not seem like much now, but in the eighties, as an 8 year old girl, I thought it was the best thing since the debut of MTV. She was my inspiration, my teacher, my Nanny.

After a successful 10 year span in the retail world, I was afforded the luxury of becoming a stay at home mom for my family of 6. They grew older, headed off to elementary school, and I found myself making those afternoon snacks for my children. The same ones that I as a child had cherished so much. I had found my passion once again and knew instantly this was the next chapter of my life.

While sitting around a dear friend's dining room table we brainstormed what would be a good and fitting name for this new endeavor of mine. As it rolled right off of her tongue, "Mouth of the South" was born. It's a name that truly represents my personality and my gourmet treats will make your mouth understand the loving hospitality of the south.
